Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust

Trust:                                                Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust

Vacancy Job Title:                       Deputy CEO

Full Time/Part Time:                  Full time

Contract type:                              Permanent

Salary Range:                                £92,322 – £106,630

Start Date:                                     January 2025

DNEAT is one of the largest Trusts of schools in East Anglia and nationally, serving 42 schools and six and a half thousand children across the Diocese of Norwich. As a Diocesan Trust, our vision and values are distinctively Christian and  we  welcome  those of all faiths and none.

We want to appoint an exceptional new Deputy CEO, to build upon the successes the Trust has secured since its formation 10 years ago;

  • Improved Ofsted outcomes from 53% good or better to 92% currently
  • Consistently strong SIAMs outcomes over this time
  • Improved pupil outcomes at KS2, with the gap between the Trust’s children and the national cohort halving between 2016 and 2023. We have also surpassed the outcomes achieved by our key Local Authority
  • A collaborative, children-centred Trust of committed, impactful and values driven leaders and staff that drive our progress

You will help us to develop and deliver our school improvement strategy in line with our vision that requires we ‘build the house’ together, with all of our stakeholders. Our Christian values of ‘community, courage, kindness and wisdom’ will be your guiding stars on this journey and will support you in reaching for the ambitions set out in our five-year strategy. In addition;

  • You will be responsible for deploying our highly effective school improvement team to deliver on the strategy and will increasingly unleash the leadership and school improvement potential of leaders within our schools
  • You will be supported by a Board and CEO who are relentless in their drive to improve our schools for the communities, children and families that we serve
  • You will develop strategy with the CEO and board in line with our vision and five-year strategy

In our Trust the DCEO role is strongly school improvement focused. We remove potential barriers to this through the relationship we have with DoNESC, a services company that serves both Trusts in our Diocese, and which drives operational aspects of our Trust’s work.

You will need to be a highly effective school improver, with a demonstrable track record of success. Your leadership will need to promote and facilitate even deeper collaboration across the Trust, to unleash additional talent and ensure that this impacts positively upon our children. Building positive relationships at all levels will be key, from planning and delivery of an effective CPD program for staff in schools to high level relationships with Ofsted, the Regional Director’s office, the DDE, CEO and the Board.

Safeguarding

The safety and well-being of children is central to our ethos, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to provide references and undertake the Independent Safeguarding Authority checks including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and comply with the Safeguarding Policy and child protection practices of the Trust.

Equalities

DNEAT has a strong commitment to achieving equality of opportunity in its academies and in the employment of people. The post holder will ensure that DNEAT meets its statutory obligations in relation to all aspects of equalities legislation. This post involves regular travel around the Diocese and maybe some evening and weekend work. The job description is not an exhaustive document. It reflects the duties and responsibilities applicable at the time of issue. Details and emphasis are subject to amendment and revision in the light of the changing of DNEAT.
