Staff Professional Development
At St Benet's we have a curriculum model where research sits at its heart. There is a clear intent from schools who select their own curriculum approaches based on our research centre.
As a Trust we have a shared language for our curriculum implementation whereby we support the improvement of teaching through an instructional coaching approach using the programme of Walkthrus.
This allows for our curriculum to have the impact of improving the outcomes for our children which is then measured through PiXL assessments alongside Teacher Assessments and comparative judgements.
Our Teaching and Learning Principles
At St Benet’s our Teaching & Learning Principles are informed by the research of Rosenshine’s Principles and Cognitive Load Theory.
The three principles are Preparation, Ambition and Connection. These were created in 2021 by our Senior Leaders Network and are used to support staff in their professional development.
All our CPD has these principles at the centre and are used alongside the Walkthrus approach and Instructional Coaching techniques.
Our Golden Threads
At St Benet’s we are passionate about all children flourishing. To support this, there are two Golden Threads that run throughout our CPD:
- Inclusive Practice
- Oracy Development
Central CPD Calendar
Each year the Trust rolls out a new training calendar (example below) to support our staff in their CPD.
